You are warmly invited to join us for a transformative year-long course in Elemental Shamanic Healing, rooted in ancient shamanic healing traditions from Brazil and Peru, and guided by the timeless wisdom of nature.

This immersive training experience is designed for current or aspiring practitioners of the healing arts who seek to expand their practice, gain new perspectives, techniques and tools for healing, and embark on a life-changing journey of personal healing and spiritual awakening.

Upon completion of the training and practicums anchored in elemental healing philosophy and shamanic practices from South America, you will emerge a certified Elemental Shamanic Healing Practitioner.

What You’ll Learn

All of our work is guided by a South American Medicine Wheel framework. Through carefully crafted lessons, experiential healing practices, ancient rituals, ceremony, guided journeys, and small study groups, you’ll learn to perceive and transform the domains of energy that animate our physical world.

Over the course of the year, you will:

  • Discover new ways of seeing and understanding the world, guided by the wisdom of nature and the power of the elements – Fire, Earth, Water, Air.

  • Develop your perception to scan people’s energy fields and see where unresolved emotions, trauma imprints, or other blockages reside, then release them.

  • Learn many new skills to support people in finding their joy, strength, wholeness, clarity, and sense of purpose in life.
  • Build deep relationships and clear communication with your spirit guides and nature allies.

  • Conduct healing rituals, offerings, and ceremonies in nature, working with the powerful energies of the fire, ocean, river, waterfall, mountain, forest, wind, sun, and moon — to restore balance.

  • Cultivate a strict code of ethics anchored in key core values to help ensure integrity, safety, and care in all of your healing efforts.

Course Curriculum

The Elemental Shamanic Training course is organized into modules around the four elements:

Please follow the links above or go to the Curriculum tab to explore what you’ll be learning in each respective module.

Supported by your teacher and a strong circle of peers, you’ll develop a solid foundation as a shamanic healer – and emerge ready to serve with clarity and confidence in the gifts of your own medicine.

Course Structure and Timing

The course will run from January 16 through December 18, 2026. The weekly schedule will consist of:

(1) A live class via Zoom that lasts 1.5 hrs, at noon (Mountain Time) every Friday, including time for discussion and Q&A. All live classes will be recorded and shared with participants in case you need to miss a class or rewatch later.

(2) Short pre-recorded lessons through our online portal that may include written materials, videos, audio recordings of shamanic journeys, or other exercises to be done on your own time or out in nature. Please plan another 30min – 1.5 hrs per week for these lessons or practices.

(3) In-person gathering(s) to be in ceremony together. During these times we will work with the elements and sacred places in nature, make healing tools, receive essential materials, practice rites of protection, hold rituals, and more. Depending on location of participants and ease of travel, we’ll hold one or more gatherings throughout the year.

(4) Practice. We encourage all apprentices to practice the techniques you’re learning in nature, on one another, and eventually on close family or friends. The amount of time you dedicate to this will vary throughout the course of the year, depending on what we’re learning.

In all we recommend planning to dedicate 3 to 5 hours per week for live classes & lessons, and your independent practice time. Over the course of the year we estimate that you’ll spend between 250-300 hours to the training (including the in-person portion).

We will take a week break between each of the four elemental modules, as well as a break for the weeks of July 4th and Thanksgiving.

About the Teacher

lizheadshotsquareLiz Beachy Gómez founded Ewassa in 2017, as a space to reconnect deeply with nature for healing. She is a certified Energy Medicine Practitioner trained in Andean (Q’ero) shamanic healing practices through the Four Winds Society (run by Dr. Alberto Villoldo), as well as other indigenous teachers.

In 1998, Liz began practicing a Brazilian spiritual and mediunic tradition called Umbanda that is rooted in the natural world and the four elements. In 2003 she was initiated as a daughter of Iemanjá (the ocean) in Brazil by Babalorixá Carlos Buby (founder of the Templo Guaracy). She then went on to lead weekly healing ceremonies on behalf of the temple and serve as a medium for seven years until she became a mother. In that context and beyond she has conducted countless nature-based healing ceremonies both in the US and overseas.

In her earlier adulthood Liz spent more than a decade overseas working in the field of public health (West Africa, Haiti, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Central America). In each of the places she lived, Liz sought out opportunities to work with or observe traditional medicine men and women in their healing practices. Her observations through the lens of multiple cultures as well as her own personal healing journey have helped inform her practice today.

We invite you to read about Liz in the magazine Yoga + LIFE, check out a recent in-depth interview with her in Mystic Mag, and listen to an interview with her from Fit for Joy. Or see a longer bio here

Liz holds an undergraduate degree in psychology and anthropology, and a Master of Health Sciences (MHS) degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is deeply committed to honoring and living in balance with the earth.

She is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese, and offers healing sessions in all of these languages. This course will be taught in English.

Reading Materials

The main required reading for the course is Liz’s book From the Depths of Creation: A Nature-Based Path to Healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before enrolling in the training we recommend having at least one shamanic energy medicine session with Liz. This helps you understand the nature of this work and the types of techniques you will be learning. It also allows her to get a sense of your level of sensitivity and whether the training is likely to be a good fit for you. In addition, we recommend taking at least one class through Ewassa to become familiar with our online portal and teaching style. (We have various self-guided class options at different price points).

Ideally training participants will already have some sort of regular meditation or spiritual practice, a strong love of nature, and begun a process of self-exploration or healing.

Humans have tremendous capacity to perceive domains beyond the physical world. Most people today learn to ignore those skills when young, and simply never develop them. With time and practice you can learn to sense energies and even perceive the domains of Spirit.

We find that the best predictor of how easily your perception will develop is whether you are able to gain useful insights during shamanic journeys. If you have concerns, please follow the link above and try a few journeys to see how naturally it comes to you. Most everyone can learn to journey, though it may take longer for some people than others.

Please plan about 3 hours per week between the live class and the recorded lessons, exercises, or practices. In addition we recommend that you plan to spend free time in nature at least once a week, and set aside time to practice the techniques you’re learning – with both other participants and friends. This latter time commitment will vary throughout the year depending on what we’re learning, but may average about 2 additional hours per week.

All live classes will be recorded and posted in the online learning platform so if you miss one or wish to revisit something you can always watch it later. We will try to find a regular time that works for everyone in the cohort, though we understand that things come up and not everyone will be able to attend every class.

You will continue to have access to the course materials for one year after the course completion, so that you can refer back once you begin your practice should you have any questions or wish to revisit any lessons.

In order to receive your Elemental Shamanic Healing Practitioner certificate, you must complete all 4 modules, submit case notes for 12 practice sessions, share photos from 4 rituals you’ve organized, attend the in-person portion of the training, and offer a practice session to Liz for feedback. Once you have met all of these requirements you will receive your official certificate from Ewassa to print and frame.

Yes. You can pay for the full training in advance for $9500, or make two payments for a total of $9750. Or you can make 4 total payments throughout the year, in advance of each module, for $2500 each. You may also choose to cover the first module as a downpayment followed by monthly payments for the remaining balance.

Please note that the first module must be paid in full prior to the start of the class.

For the 2026 cohort there is a maximum of 12 participants, to allow for open discussions and ample time for Q&A, as well as personal attention to each trainee. Subsequent cohorts for 2027 and beyond may be slightly larger groups.

The first in-person retreat of the class will be held at our space in Evergreen, Colorado in June. Participants are welcome to sleep in tents or in our ceremonial tipi in the forest. The second retreat may be held in Tulum, Mexico or along the East Coast to ensure that we have access to both the ocean and rivers or freshwater bodies. Timing and location of the retreats will be discussed with the group at the beginning of class.
